Waterproof RGB LED strips were used under the gunnel and the seat bases on this Malibu Sunsetter. These guys are always staying out past dark in their boat, so they also installed LED strips on the trailer guide pylons to make it easier to put the boat back on the trailer at night.
The red lead of the RGB LEDs on the pylons is wired to the brakes and turn signals, and the blue lead is wired to a float switch which causes the pylons to change from red to blue when the trailer is backed into the water. The setup was created with a piece of white PVC with a slot cut into it and the LEDs are siliconed into this slot. A second, larger diameter piece of clear PVC pipe was sandblasted and placed on top of the pylon to diffuse the light. The clear PVC was then finished off with a Malibu logo!
