House Outline

Products Used/Details   •   Project Photos

This customer discovered that he would never have to put up his Christmas lights ever again!  Imagine simply being able to change the colors depending on the Holiday...red or green for Christmas, orange for Halloween, pink for Easter.  24V LED strips are the best to use in applications like this which utilize a couple hundred feet of strip light.  If you would like to go for a more classic look, you could also use the warm white flexible LED strips.

For this house, 14 rolls (Over 200 feet) of our 24V waterproof RGB flexible LED Strip (rated IP-68) are all connected together and stapled to the fascia board with rubber coated wire staples.  The LEDs are facing outward.  The LED lights for this project were designed to be run at 10-40% brightness so we did not need the larger power supplies or amplifiers.  The waterproof LED strips use only 10-15 Watts of power at the normal setting, and up to 150 Watts on the bright setting.

RGB Flexible LED Strip 24V IP-68 For long runs, we recommend that you use our 24V LED flexible strips (instead of the 12V flex strips) so that you need less power feed wires.  In this example, 18-4 feed wire was run from the amplifier to about every fourth roll).  All of the rolls are connected end to end and the feed wires are spliced in between the rolls.  In this case, there are 2x power runs, one to each side of the large peak (4x rolls - power run - 3x rolls - 3x rolls - power run - 4 rolls).
RGB Controller  You can use any of our RGB LED Controllers (for this project we used the RF Remote Control to hold them over until the DMX Network is installed).
1x RGB Amplifier 8A/Ch  Since there are 14x rolls connected together (and this is too much for the RGB Controller to handle by itself), after the Controller you need an Amplifier.  For this project we needed a large one so we used one rated for 8A/Ch (if we used the 12V strips we would have needed several Amplifiers).
120W 24V Power Supply For the long runs we used a large power supply (in stock but not on our site).  In the picture there are 2x power supplies but only one is connected (we didn't expect it to need such little power for the effect we were looking for).  If you are interested in creating this effect, contact us and we will help you figure out which power supply you need.
